Every wedding is different.
There’s always at least one thing I really remember about each and every wedding I photograph.
For Nerida & Phil’s it has to be the birds.
Nerida first called me three weeks before their day so we didn’t have the chance to meet face to face. It just added to the anticipation.
When she came around the corner of her accommodation I immediately fell in love with her hair. I know it sounds weird but I had a serious case of hair envy. You see, all I’ve ever wanted is a thick head of hair and she had it styled in the most gorgeous 1940’s victory rolls. With a ceramic bluebird, right on top.
Then came the dress. Firstly it was short. Which I love and more importantly, it had bluebirds too. Even her flowers had a bird in a nest.
Their ceremony and reception were both held at Nerida & Phil’s home in Goornong (near Bendigo) on a Thursday. It was perfectly simple.
For photos we headed to the river near their house. We stepped into a large, open paddock and it couldn’t have been more wonderful.
Birds started circling. From everywhere.
Some might say they were a little angry with us for disturbing their nesting season. I like to think they came out just for the photos.
Nerida & Phil, I loved photographing your wedding. You made me feel so welcome and I hope your photos capture your day just as you remember it.
The perils of red lipstick...
Nerida changed into her party shoes for the reception.
